UMi is one of many China-based smartphone manufacturing companies which are not all that well-known, but despite that, quite a few people already heard of the ‘UMi’ name. This company tends to manufacture quite affordable Android-powered smartphone mainly made out of metal, though they’ve also released some audio products thus far as well. We’ve reviewed a number of UMi-branded devices thus far, and it seems like the company is working on yet another rather interesting smartphone, read on.
According to the info provided by our source at the company, UMi plans to release quite a powerful phone in the near future, though we still don’t know when exactly. The UMi ‘Super’, as the phone is referred to, will be UMi’s all-new flagship, and a previous rumor said that the device will sport no bezel on the sides, and will sport an AMOLED display. Well, a new rumor surfaced today saying that this device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, which means it will be the second UMi-branded smartphone powered by one of Qualcomm’s chips, the first one was the mid-range UMi eMax Mini, which we’ve also reviewed a while back. Anyhow, in addition to the Snapdragon 820, the UMi Super will also ship with 6GB of RAM on the inside, and judging by the company’s teaser you can see above this article, the phone will also be made out of metal. The teaser image also reveals that the Type-C USB port will also be included here, and the phone will also feature a bottom-facing speaker. Now, the question is, do these cutouts on the bottom represent two separate speakers, or will UMi use one side as a speaker, and the other as a microphone? Well, the chances are only one of these is a speaker, but we’ll see. Now, our source has also revealed that the UMi Super will offer great audio output, and will sport fast charging as well.
That’s pretty much it as far as specs go, we’re sure more info will surface in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that. Some of you probably wonder how much will UMi Super cost? Well, according to the available info, the phone will be priced at around $300, which means it will be quite affordable.
