What is Android O?

Android "O" is the code name for the new Android mobile operating system. It was first released as an alpha quality developer preview on March 21,2017. The second developer preview was released on May 17,2017 and is considered as the beta version. The third developer preview was released on June 8,2017 and finalizes the API.This OS is now primarily launched for its pixel and nexus users.

Talking about the name,its still not confirmed from the developers. The rumors are still on about the name. It can be anything like Oreo,Orange,Oatmeal or Oatmeal cookie, but for now its name is Android O. The name is Oatmeal cookie according to the rumors but its still to be confirmed.

The name has been confirmed and it is Android Oreo

ANDROID "O" FEATURES

PICTURE IN PICTURE MODE (PiP MODE)

This is a new feature that is released in Android O and it increases the level of multitasking that everybody has dreamed of for ages. You can use apps along with watching videos or any other thing you want to do and you need to just pin the thing you want to use along side .So it is a better feature than a split window and Google had promised to release it in their next android and they are doing it.

FASTER BOOT TIMES

Google has also confirmed that Android O will have faster booting time and not only that the apps will also be running at a faster speed than before.

RESTRICTED BACKGROUND ACTIVITIES

This is a power saving feature that will de-prioritize apps running in the background,that means your battery will last more than it used to be in Android Nougat.

ADAPTIVE APP ICONS

As the name suggests, in the new Android O icons of some apps will adapt according to the user interaction and it will add animations which will enhance the user interface which will be fun.

FORCE TOUCH

It is a feature that has been introduced in IOS 9 and it has also been introduced in Android "O".

This feature can also be enabled in other Android versions by installing third party apps,but it will be pre-installed in the Android "O".
