Judging by the past two generations of the ZenFone line, we’d say it is fairly safe to assume that the ASUS ZenFone 3 will be one of the best budget-friendly devices coming in 2016. Its predecessor, the ZenFone 2, offered fair specs, a great design and good performance, but it was the low price point that made it an enticing purchase in 2015. We can only expect the same of the newer generation handset(s), and it seems ASUS is getting ready to share the goods.
The company has just launched a page with a count-down to their ‘Zenvolution’ event, which is set to take place in Taiwan this May 30th. That is only a day before Computex takes off, and a few weeks away from today.
Now, ASUS is not exactly giving us any direct hints on what will be announced during this event, but it’s certainly time for the ZenFone line to… evolve. Rumors and leaks on the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe have been going around the web for a while. And the new page also shows Intel as a host, which was the processor brand powering ASUS’ ZenFone 2 line. Of course ASUS tends to release quite a few products during Computex, so there’s no guarantees. Bottom-line, we wouldn’t get our hopes up too much just yet, but the odds are looking fairly good.
So what can we expect here? Good question, as we honestly don’t know much about the new ZenFone handsets. It was recently seen in an entry to design-focused website Red Dot 21. It is said to come with 2.5D glass, a USB Type-C port, camera flashes on both the front and back, laser auto-focus and a fingerprint reader. All other details remain shrouded in mystery for now. Hopefully we will find out the rest come Zenvolution.
