Xiaomi could launch the successor to its super cheap Mi Band on May 8. According to My Drivers, the company will launch the new fitness band alongside Mi Max smartphone at an event in Beijing.
Mi Band has been one of the most affordable fitness tracker in the market for quite a long time. And now Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun has posted a picture of what looks like the Mi Band 2.
The picture posted by Lei Jun suggests Mi Band 2 will feature a curved LCD display and physical button. The addition of LCD display should allow users to view their activity stats right on the tracker rather than digging on the app.
Xiaomi had launched Mi Band Pulse in China with a heart rate sensor so it is likely Mi Band 2 will feature heart rate sensor too.
While Mi Band 2 looks like a promising fitness tracker from a well renowned smartphone brand, the bigger question will be the price. Xiaomi’s original Mi Band was announced at $15 and it is unlikely the company would price its second generation fitness tracker at cheap price.
